How to Measure Your Fit For Rings

When it comes to rings, having the right fit is essential. Else, your accessory may end up in your jewellery box rather than adorning your fingers. To minimize the risk of having ill-fitting jewellery and the hassle of resizing them, you need to get the right measurements.

Wondering how to get accurate measurements for your rings? Fret not, for we have you covered. Read on to know how to find the right fit for rings.

By Measuring an Existing Ring

  • Take an existing ring that offers a nice fit on the finger on which you want to wear the new ring.
  • Using a measuring tape, measure the internal diameter (in mm) of the ring and note it down. This measurement will give you the size of your ring.
  • Refer to the chart given below to determine the size of your ring.

By Measuring Your Finger

  • Take a narrow strip of paper and wrap it around the base of the finger on which you would like to wear the ring.
  • Ensure that the strip of paper wraps your finger in a snug fit.
  • Make a distinct mark at the spot where the paper overlaps.
  • Measure the distance (in mm) using a ruler and note it down. The measurement you obtain here will give you the size of your ring.
  • Refer to the chart given below to determine the size of your ring.

Things to Keep in Mind for Rings

  • Are you aware that your fingers tend to be larger at the end of the day? That is why it is best to measure them at that time so that you end up with a snug but comfortable fit.
  • Avoid measuring your fingers when they are cold. Since the cold weather can shrink them up to about half a size, it makes sense to warm them up before taking any measurement.
  • Take care not to measure your fingers after having appetizers and cocktails. This is because salt and alcohol are known to make fingers swell, and so you may not get the right measurement.
